SLAVKO TODOROVICH (Age 97)

Passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 4, 2013, surrounded in the last days of his life by his loving family and friends. Born in Athens, Greece in 1916, Slavko lived the first half of his life in Belgrade, Yugolsavia. A WWII veteran, which included a long stint as a POW, Slavko spent his entire professional career as an employee in various capacities of the United States Department of State. The second half of his life was spent primarily in Bethesda, MD where he raised his family and was an active...

SLAVKO TODOROVICH (Age 97)

Passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 4, 2013, surrounded in the last days of his life by his loving family and friends. Born in Athens, Greece in 1916, Slavko lived the first half of his life in Belgrade, Yugolsavia. A WWII veteran, which included a long stint as a POW, Slavko spent his entire professional career as an employee in various capacities of the United States Department of State. The second half of his life was spent primarily in Bethesda, MD where he raised his family and was an active member of the Serbian/American community. In retirement, Slavko spent his time reading, traveling and authored two books.

He is survived by his son and daughter in law, Bosko and Donna Todorovich of Ellicott City, MD, son in law, Larry Kanter of Silver Spring, MD. and grandchildren Samantha Todorovich, Kathryn Todorovich, Margaret Todorovich, Simon Kanter and Sophie Kanter. He was predeceased in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Liliana, and daughter, Alexandra Todorovich-Kanter.

A memorial service, followed by a reception, will be held at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Joseph Gawler's Funeral Home located at 5130 Wisconsin Avenue, NW, Washington DC, 20016. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
